South Buffalo Springs Animal Hospital has been in Las Vegas for over 7 years and was founded and is currently managed by Dr. Aaron Bivens. Dr. Bivens has been practicing Veterinary Medicine for over 11 years. Prior to coming to South Buffalo Springs Animal Hospital, Dr. Bivens graduated from Tuskegee University in 2011 and was a general practitioner associate vet for 4 years before founding South Buffalo Springs Animal Hospital. “At this practice,” says Dr. Bivens, “we focus on brachiocephalic medicine and surgery – that’s all your smushy-faced dogs – your Bulldogs, Bostons, Frenchie’s, English, your Pekingese. They are they are in their own special category and can suffer from something called brachiocephalic obstructive airway syndrome; which means that these dogs can’t breathe very well. Airnetic has provided us with great resources in terms of On-Demand Oxygen so we can keep these dogs healthy, safe and alive during exams, respiratory distress, anesthesia etc. It has been amazing working with Airnetic on this front.”
“When we started laying the groundwork for this hospital about 8 or 9 years ago, we knew that it was imperative to have an Oxygen Generation System onsite. There has to be a location for that on the exterior, safe area in the hospital that is easy to get to and to maintain. We have a server room, a fire room and our Oxygen room. Our architect told us when we were in the building phase that On-Demand Oxygen is something that will revolutionize the Veterinary world, and that Airnetic’s On-Demand Oxygen System is definitely something that will become an integral part of the practice. Once we got an on-demand oxygen system onsite, we were so spoiled that we will never want to go back.”
Dr. Bivens continues, “When you’re dealing with Oxygen Tanks, you have to consider the human side of medicine. The prices for Oxygen go up when we go through a pandemic – we saw prices for Oxygen quadruple during the pandemic. In that time, that’s not something that we had to concern ourselves with. Whether or not we had enough oxygen to care for all of our patients never crossed our minds. When we have an oxygen generation system onsite, it gives us stability in price and service. This practice serves oxygen dependent dogs with heart murmurs, congestive heart failure and many more afflictions that require oxygen therapy. Whether the dog is diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, a ruptured chordae tendineae or acute heart failure, we need them around 30-40% oxygen. We couldn’t have done that without the AIrnetic On-Demand Oxygen System. These dogs also get aspiration pneumonia and they are oxygen dependent quite a bit. So. When we’re breathing in 20-22% oxygen , and we need to have the dogs at 30-40% oxygen for sometimes, 1,2,3, even 4 days, and we couldn’t have done it without the Airnetic On-Demand Oxygen System.”
